Miguel Gutierrez

Managing Director, Real Estate Finance and Acquisition Services

Miguel is a results-driven real estate executive with over 30 years of experience optimizing institutional and private real estate portfolios for superior performance. He has worked with and advised some of the industry’s most prominent players, including CAPREIT, Starwood Capital Group, Fannie Mae, and Crescent Heights. His expertise spans the full spectrum of real estate disciplines—from acquisitions and asset management to finance and operations.

As Chief Operating Officer of CAPREIT for over a decade, Miguel oversaw a portfolio of more than 80 multifamily communities nationwide. Under his leadership, the portfolio consistently outperformed industry benchmarks. Earlier, during the height of the housing crisis, Miguel served as Director of Credit Loss Mitigation at Fannie Mae, where he launched the pioneering REO Rental™ and Deed-for-Lease™ initiatives—creating the nation’s first large-scale single-family rental platform with over 25,000 homes.

Miguel also advised Starwood Capital Group, where he led the stabilization of a 5,500-home single-family rental and non-performing loan portfolio and oversaw the integration of the Starwood and Waypoint platforms. His work was instrumental in laying the operational foundation for one of the most successful IPOs in the single-family rental sector.

Earlier in his career, as a Director with Fannie Mae’s American Communities Fund, Miguel led direct investments and fund commitments with leading firms such as AEW, BlackRock, Walker & Dunlop, and Enterprise.

Miguel began his career as a Certified Public Accountant at KPMG and Reznick, Fedder & Silverman, auditing real estate clients. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from American University and an MBA in Finance from the University of Miami.
